I had never experienced physical therapy before, but my sister has done it several times, and she calls it "pain and torture." My experience, although not recent injury related, was the exact opposite. Katie Segner, who guided me through pelvic floor therapy, was always professional and knowledgeable, yet compassionate and kind. She had a sense of humor putting me at ease right away, and always treated me with dignity and respect. She patiently explained everything, answered all of my questions, mapped out next steps, and repeated instructions.
The results for me were life changing. My condition has been reversed enough that I am so much more comfortable. I am getting stronger, but the most important thing is my emotional wellbeing. I have confidence and control back. I didn't realize that I was mildly depressed about the situation and that is gone. My time is more free, my focus is not on locating a bathroom everywhere I go. I don't need one, always! The information and techniques Katie taught me helped me to understand the importance of better self care. I have told numerous family and friends about pelvic floor therapy and have encouraged them to seek help for themselves. I wish it were universally available to young and old women.
I can't say enough good things about Katie and pelvic floor therapy. Thank you!

My background and vision
My story
Hi, I'm Katie Segner PT, DPT and Owner of Mama to the Core, LLC. I've been a Physical Therapist for 9 years, a Licensed mat based Pilates Instructor for 5 years and I have loved specializing in the women's health and pelvic health niche for the last 6 years since becoming a mom.
I enjoy working with women of all ages to help resolve pelvic floor dysfunction and pain, improve body awareness and control and help restore confidence and quality of life through patient-centered physical therapy care.
As a mom of three littles, my biggest passion is working with prenatal and postpartum women along their motherhood journeys and that is what inspired my brand and my leap of faith to start my own private practice.
As women, we often neglect ourselves by devoting our time to caring for our loved ones. I want to help YOU prioritize your pelvic health and wellness.
You deserve to feel better about your body.
Where did I start
I graduated from Texas A&M University-College Station, in 2013, double majoring in Animal Science and Kinesiology. In 2016, I graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I have been practicing in a hospital-based outpatient, multidisciplinary rehab clinic for the past 9+ years, treating predominately pelvic health patients for the last 6 years. I also have a well rounded background with orthopedic and neurological patients, with an extensive history of treating patients with acquired brain injuries + Parkinson's disease, and seasoned in treating spine disorders and post operative total knee and hip patients.
I became certified as a mat based Pilates Instructor in 2020 to enhance my treatment skills for spine and pelvic related conditions. Shortly after obtaining this additional functional movement training, I honed in on my passion for improving women's health, and blended my roles as a Mother, Physical therapist and Pilates Instructor to found "Mama to the Core," to serve my clients via education and instruction of mindful based movement to promote optimal fitness and physical and emotional wellness.
